For most people, when they consider the idea of African safaris, they bring to mind the stereotypical picture of the indomitable English explore who sweeps the landscape with his piercing gaze from beneath his trusty sun helmet. Even though today’s modern safari adventurers don’t often don a helmet, there are still many stalwart explorers on the plains and in the jungles on East Africa safari adventures.

East Africa is a one of the most popular destinations for safaris thanks to the beautiful and diverse terrain. What most attracts people is the amazing variety of wildlife that can be observed and studied, and even hunted. However, nowadays, hunting is not the major focus of most safaris and is quite limited and very strictly regulated to protect the magnificent animals of the African wild.

Nowadays, with worldwide communication being so fast and easy, it does not take much effort to research and make reservations for an East Africa safari. Most all African safari tour companies pick up their guests right at the airport. They then take care of the transportation to the lodge or resort, which typically features large decks for observation, as well as facilities for dining, entertainment and sleeping.

These safari lodges provide the starting point for the vehicle convoys that carry their guests out past the grasslands to reach the game territory. In most instances, the African safaris will have a native African safari guide who will provide experience and knowledge of the local surroundings, terrain and wildlife, and survival skills as needed.

The length of your safari in East Africa will depend upon the safari tour package that you chose. There are two day safaris, as well as two weeks excursions, and even longer with special arrangements. Whenever possible, the experts recommend that you spend at least five days on safari, if not more. With the shorter length safaris, people discover that they spend more time on the road traveling out to the areas to observe the wildlife than they do actually observing the amazing animals.

On a longer safari, you will have more opportunities to observe a wider variety of animals than usually found in the area that your safari encompasses. The other benefit of a safari over a week in length is that the safari guide will often be able to make arrangements for the group to spend time with people of local tribes. Sometimes, the shorter trips also make stops at a tribal village or two, but in these cases the stop is quite brief; just long enough for a quick picture or to purchase a souvenir or two, which might leave one feeling like a tourist rather than a safari adventurer.

You will certainly get more for your travel dollars, and from your experience overall, if you take an East Africa safari of two or three weeks in length. At the same time, safari travelers need to understand that excursions can be grueling. Even the most rugged of explorers can be worn down by hours of traveling dusty, bumpy roads in vehicles with windows open and springs questionable.

And anyone tired of more traditional vacations or for anyone seeking thrills and adventure – not to mention excitement and exotic culture – should be a holiday safari in the lush, beautiful wilds of Africa.

There are a wide variety of activities offered in most holiday safari packages. Visit local tribes and Bushmen, learn about customs and cultures, and take part in game drives and hikes, which are a staple when on Safari.

Observing animals in their natural habitat is a tradition among holiday safaris in Africa and instead of asking what kind of animals you should expect to see on an African safari.

Africa is famous for its wild animal forests. Geographically Africa is a beautiful place with great valleys, peaks, lakes etc. The world famous second largest fresh water lake “Lake Victoria” is in Africa and the deepest lake also. The geography of Africa is suitable for farming. Nowadays tourism became the main economy of Africa.

When you reach Africa you will surely go to see wild life animals. So it is better to go with good travel programmers. They will arrange you a good guide as well as vehicles for you. The guide will help you find out all the places you wish to visit and this will help you, saving your time and money. In Africa there are the most amazing wildlife animals like crocodiles, elephants, hippos, lions, hippos, tigers and much more. You can also see some nice nature scenes like lakes, peaks, and forests. While going to see for wild animals you should be cautious because most of the animals are very dangerous. So always be alert. Do not try to move towards the animals, better stay in your vehicle itself and watch.

About health concerns in Africa, the main health problem is Malaria, so take precautions before going on your trip. The other is sanitation-related disease; you will infect this disease from drinking water or from the foods like fruits and vegetable. So always be conscious.

You should be careful about all your property. Keep your money and things in a safe place while you are moving out. Do not place it in your vehicles and go. Arrange a good and safe hotel or apartment to stay. You can book your room or apartments through the organizers itself; they can provide you the best options. Before moving out you should have a better idea about the places you like to visit or take help from the guide and then decide. This will help to make your African Safari a nice and memorable one.

An African safari trip would be the ultimate vacation for most of us but for the inexperienced, it can be an overwhelming experience on the organization front.

How do you plan for African safari trips; where do you start; where do you go and what do you see? Beginning to see the picture. This article is not so much about how to prepare but what’s available for those seeking to head to one of the world’s most visited destinations.

The thing to keep in mind about a trip to Africa is it’s such a large and diverse place that to see it all and experience everything it has to offer could literally take you years. With that in mind, consider choosing one destination and working your vacation around it.

The big attraction when heading on safari is the wildlife and scenery. There are several ways to experience both including via mobile, self-drive or fly-in safaris. Each has it’s own unique characteristics and will differ in cost.

Self-Drive Safaris

These may not be suitable for complete novices to Africa. However, a well orgainized self-drive safari would be a good choice for people travelling in a group with an experienced guide.

A self-drive safari has the advantage of travelling at one’s own pace rather than sticking to the strict schedule of an organized tour. You need to be aware though that some destinations may provide conditions which could be considered hazardous.

Understanding the lay of the land, road rules and each destinations political landscape is vital.

Mobile Safaris

These are well organized excursions and can range in length from a few days to weeks. With an experienced guide or guides, mobile safaris are a excellent way to see the landscape in relative safety.

The list of mobile safaris available are too numerous to mention within the scope of this article but they include many options including camping out or staying within the safe confines of motel accomodation.

Fly-In Safaris

For those with limited time, fly-in safaris get you in and out of a destination in good time. However, it doesn’t mean you’ll miss too much.

One of the advantages of fly-in safaris is seeing the landscape from a wide perspective. These can range in length from four to fourteen days and in many instances, you can spread the trip out over several destinations.

While each of the listed African safari trips offers different aspects, in the end, it is your decision on what to choose. For those who prefer to orgainize their own itinerary, then self-drive and fly-in safaris should be considered.
