They say once you have been there is always a place for it in your heart! Kenya does have everything to offer; from gorgeous beaches, to luxiouriously forested mountains, African bush land and desert.
When going to the coast, most tourists head off to the simple and definite success of Mombasa, all very well; but not the ultimate African beach experiences.
Mombasa hosts some night life; nothing compared to English clubbing, but definite entertainment- washed down by a couple of Tusker’s! It is sometimes difficult to find out about the clubs; the most popular is Mamba beach which one our crew will take you to to enjoy your night life in Kenya along the coastal region.
Pirates- everybody has been there. It’s very easy to get too and from clubs; just get a taxi, but watch out for the ones smoking ganja at the same time! Check the price before you drive, and always try to argue it down! Malindi has beautiful beaches, but less nightlife, though there is still plenty to be had.
The hotels of Malindi, Hemingway’s in particular have boasted the likes of Naomi Campbell and Bill Gates, and many others. Most hotels have guards on the beach front of the hotels, but venturing far down the beach after dark, is not entirely to be recommended! If you’re doing a package deal, Mombasa is in very close vicinity (close in African terms)
On Nairobi, there are many guest houses and hotels; of varying quality, and price; whichever is best for you. The nightlife is typically African, there are many clubs, try the Simba Saloon, and Pavement- that’s where we take our customers to enjoy themselves. I hope most of would like to give it a try you will enjoy your stay in Kenya especially once you have done a safari to our great National Parks.
The one thing you must visit is Nairobi National Park, a national park, that survives in the center of an up and coming (or so they say) city. This park is very special, unlike most small parks, it is not fenced off, and therefore, animals are free to come and go, so the park is very seasonal.
National parks; well you will never be stuck for choice. Game parks- the ones where you go to watch the animals are tourist traps. Watch out for Amboseli (on the border with Tanzania approx. 8hrs drive over potholed roads from Nairobi), being very small, you are guaranteed to see animals, if you can see past the hoards of tourist vans watching as well!
Massai Mara,(approx 5hrs on very potholed roads at times! a definite must! This is a very special park; if not shambolic, it is owned by the Maasai themselves, so unlike other parks there are no regulations as to off road driving, and night time driving; though this is not to be recommended since most animals are so much active at night.
Samburu,(approx 6 hrs again surprise – potholed roads at the last bit to the park!) with the beauty of the Samburu people, combined with the beauty of this exceedingly special park you can’t go wrong! For the best game parks it would be nice to combine all of them to give you the insight of Kenya. I would recommend in particular Masai Mara, Samburu, Lake Nakuru National Park and lake Naivasha the home of Hippos .These are the only place where I have seen Lions kill, and the three cats all in the same day! The camps are good too, situated on top of a hill, with nothing but a slope separating you from the out stretching park below.
Kenya from an outward bounds perspective also has alot to offer; a few beach hotels offer you the PaDI course for scuba; you can be taught how to windsurf, indeed almost any waterspout.
Mt.Kenya, is a simple walk up, with many beautiful views! 3 different peaks to choose from, Nellion, Batien, and Lenana, each with superb views!
Well worth it! Of course there is always Mt.Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, for those not satisfied with the second high-test peak in Africa! Though I have to say I believe the views from Mt.Kenya are more spectacular than those to be seen in Mt. Kilimanjaro! Then there is the aberdares, a secluded forest! Well worth seeing, the money raised from the annual Rhino Charge off road contest that has graced the likes of Colin McCrae!), goes towards conservation of Elephants in Aberdares! Also worth it is the ranch of Laikipia, for the ultimate colonial experience; not on the general list of tourist must sees, which is why this place is spectacular!
Pick the time of year you are best suited for- December through to March are the hottest- then the short rains come!
If you go, you cant do all of it at once, but remember, there’s always another time! Whatever happens Kenya will take a piece of your heart; if the unspeakable happens, a bitter one. You will always have Kenya in the heart, if you visited and had a good time! “

Safari to Nairobi Kenya Claudious Tours and Safaris as the tour operator
January 11th, 2010An Online Tour Operator With a Difference
December 16th, 2009Have you ever wondered what tour operator you should choose for a safari, holiday or vacation. Well considering the fact, that there are so many out there, why don’t you just choose one that combines the beach and the African bush, which in turn, spare you the time and energy to find both.
That’s why I want to write about a travel tour operator, that has been around for 25 years, has expert staff who has visited every location that they offer, to ensure that both destinations and accommodation offer the highest levels of service and experience.
Well after reading this, you probably think, well I have been traveling with X company for X years, why should I now suddenly choose another one, while not familiar with them at all. When I did decide to write this article, I did come prepared right? So here are some testimonials, to prove how good Island Safari actually are.
Testimonial 1:
From Judy Swanson
We had such a fantastic time in Botswana, that I cried when we had to leave. Being South African myself probably made it harder as we were heading back to the States after 6 weeks. We stayed first at a small camp called Zibalianja in the Linyanti swamp north of Maun. It has only 3 chalets and is known as the smallest camp in Africa. If you like that somewhat intimate setting, just like one small family together.
Our second camp was Xakanaxa in the Moremi game reserve in the Okavango Delta. The setting here was spectacular, right on the delta. Bob and Flo (our hosts) are just fantastic people. I could have stayed another week. Mandy from Island Safari did a superb job. I just went onto the web and wrote the first people I could find – which happened to be Mandy. She answered all my questions the very next day. I wrote to one outfit to compare, and it took 5 days to get a reply.
We couldn’t have asked for better as they were professional, prompt and friendly. There are many camps in the delta which we personally preferred because the waterways make the setting so beautiful. The game was wonderful. Everything from lions to cheetah, from hippos to elephants was sighted. One hippo (Pavarotti) is used to coming out of the delta and roaming the camp. He slept behind our tent one night, because they saw his footprints there. Fortunately we don’t sleep walk.
Cheers,
Judy

From Bruce Cottrill,
Just a belated, note to thank you and the team for organizing the best holiday ever!
I have to confess that I had some slight misgivings at the start, handing over such a large amount
of money to someone you don’t know, was somewhat daunting! However I didn’t have any concerns. Your organization was excellent, you and the people that we dealt with were so helpful and prompt in responding to any query we had, as well as the system you have for payment (UK bank account) was much appreciated, and Rob was very helpful to us at Jo’ burg airport, after we’d had to change arrival plans at a very short notice. All the travel arrangements went smoothly, people were there to help us when they were needed, and of course the camps were just fabulous! The combination of camps that you recommended, Xakanaxa Camp followed by Delta Camp, provided us with a lovely contrast of the Delta. We talk about the Okavango often, and I’m sure will continue to do so for a long time to come.
Thank you, again, for making this possible
Bruce
Now onto, a more important topic, which is obviously, the question that everyone always asks. How is Island Safari, different from any other tour operator. To start off, they are one of the leading tour operators to the Okavango Delta in Botswana. Instead of covering only 1 specific destination or specific itineraries, we currently have 11 destinations that we cover in Botswana, Namibia ,Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, Seychelles, Mozambique as well as 6 activity safari websites, including horseback safari, elephant back safari, golfing safari, honeymoon, luxury train travel as well as mobile camping safari.
You can actually look at all our websites, by visiting all the links below:

Each of these sites, contains detailed info specific to each destination that you want to visit. It also provides the following:accommodation details, maps, weather info, tour itineraries as well as contact details.
Now, finally, are Island Safaris’ prices, going to make you jump through the roof? The answer is no, as they have special rates, for all the properties that they do business with. If you want us to create a holiday or safari specific to your needs, our consultants can create a custom-made itinerary for you, without any problems.
So I hope this will make you decide to travel with a tour operator as professional as this, with expert help and service.
