:: HIGHTLIGHTS BY THE COUNCIL SPEAKER

Since 1993, government has pursued a decentralized system of government under which political administrative and financial powers were transferred from the central government to local governments and administrative units. The reform is generally intended to make local governments like our town council effective self-governing units.
As a speaker it is my duty to create an enabling environment for council to participate in all matters that fall under the functions and powers of urban council like Lugazi Town Council.
When presiding over council meetings, I preserve order and enforce the rules of the procedure of council. Views, opinions and recommendations are galvanized into resolution or decisions that are applicable and the spirit of collective responsibility is enhanced. There is a great coherence among the councilors and the technocrats for better decisions and implementation. This gives confidence for working hard to fulfill our common mission.
