Banking Services
Lugazi has a big branch of the former Uganda Commercial Bank, now Stanbic Bank Ltd. There are many micro-finance institutions offering money lending services for local businesses such as Pride Uganda and Women Finance Trust.
Power and Energy
Lugazi Town Council being an industrial
complex is well served with electricity. There are some industrial diesel generators on stand by at Cable Corporation Ltd. and Sugar Corporation of Uganda Ltd.
Incase the electricity goes off; bagasse and firewood are also used to generate power for the boiler furnace.
There are 3 petrol stations in the town.
Telecommunications
The town is well covered by telecommunications providers such as MTN-Uganda, Uganda Telecom and Celtel. Fax and internet services are also available plus postal services.
Health Services
Lugazi Town Council is served by two hospitals namely; Kawolo Hospital which is run by government with a 100 bed capacity and Mehta Lugazi Hospital run by Sugar Corporation of Uganda Ltd. mainly for the workers and families of the Mehta Group of Companies with a capacity of 50 beds.
There are some private clinics and dispensaries run by qualified personnel.
Malaria remains the most common disease followed by HIV/AIDS related infections.
Water Supply
There is a Lugazi Water Board which manages the piped water system in place. There are 402 connected households. Plans are underway to extend the piped water by 3.7 km and to connect 204 new households. There are 5 water kiosks and 21 protected springs.
Peace and Security
The biggest police station in the district is located in Lugazi town itself and this provides the immediate and timely security for the entire town. This is supplemented by the Local Defense Units in the area who assist in the maintenance of security and crime prevention working hand-in-hand with the local council officials.
